24-May-04:   Additions and changes in "Release candidate 2" for 4.21a
  • Running in preview mode with the description ribbon turned off should now work correctly (previously, the preview area was improperly-resized when the ribbon was disabled)
  • You should be able to cancel TCP/IP connection attempts using the "Stop" button on the status bar now (IMAP related).
  • Some menu accelerator changes on the "Message" and "Folder" menus have been made, Select and Unselect can now be reached by keys.
  • The "Etiquette guidelines" under the Help menu is updated for using the Subject line.

21-May-04:   Additions and changes in beta 3 (Release candidate 1) for 4.21a
  • There is a new version of WSendTo included, that should correct the problem reported by users (truncation of long lists of addresses or long mailto: URLs).
  • The address truncation in replies-to-all should be fixed.
  • IMAP profiles should now properly respect the Inbox polltime (prior to now, the inbox would be polled using the value for the local new mail folder, which is typically far too frequent).
  • It should now be possible to delete Public folders (System wide folders), provided they are empty.
  • The problem where using the "Select" command on an IMAP folder resulted in the messages being permanently "selected" has been fixed.
  • There is now added an "Unselect" command on Ctrl+Shift+F9 which cancels the "Sort to top" Select action. You can also use this command any time you wish (whether or not a Select has actually been done beforehand) to force a folder to resort itself in the current mode.
  • Icons should now be drawn correctly in the addressbook manager window when list banding is enabled.

18-May-04:   Additions and changes in beta 1 and 2 for 4.21a
  • Single part MIME binary messages (i.e, messages with no text part, just a single binary component) should now work again; furthermore, the "Cannot display this item..." text has been modified so that a filename is properly shown if available.
  • The editor layout selector in the preferences has been replaced by a pair of checkboxes that allow you to select the keywords field, the identity selector, or both.
  • The POP password should no longer be displayed in the trace portion of error messages.
  • Creation of public folders should now no longer result in bizarre behaviour (duplications, improper HIERARCH.PM entries and so on).
  • Search results in public folder trees will no longer have an empty result set.
  • Reply-all to a message with a large number of e-mail addresses will no longer result in truncation of those e-mail addresses.
  • In the new error window for POP3 there is now a check box at the bottom of the window, checked by default, that says "Automatically close this error window in 20 seconds". If the user does nothing and leaves the control checked, the window will shut itself after 20 seconds, but if the user unchecks the control, it will stay open. This gives the option of allowing the dialog to hang around in case you need to copy information from it or whatever.
  • In some rare cases mail from the queue manager was sent twice when "Sent all mail directly without placing it in the queue" was checked. Fixed.
  • The column heading in the Forward dialogue is corrected.
  • The file prefix.pm will be in the release archive
  • The file WGUIDE.HLP will be moved into the resource directory - it's basically out-of-date, but still contains a few useful tidbits of information. The installer no longer creates a shortcut for WGUIDE.HLP either. For up-to-date references see the knowledgebase.
  • the L hotkey will now work in preview and folderlists to bring up the filter creation wizard.
  • When preview is disabled in the Folders menu, messages will no longer be marked as been read.
  • Ctrl+P is now enabled as a hotkey for printing in preview mode.
  • Printing in Grouped view will no longer print the wrong message.
  • The way IMAP profiles are managed is changed so that it is now possible to mount two IMAP mailboxes where the host and username are the same, provided the mailbox reference field is different. This will allow access to public folders on some servers that work this way.
