27-Apr-2003:   The following items are changed/fixed for version 4.12, beta 1:

  • The HTML rendering problem with big bullets seems to be fixed.
  • The major problem with non-ISO-8859-1 character data getting munged on sending should be corrected.
  • The problem with the wrong message being deleted after selective filtering operations that end in a "delete" action is fixed.
  • The program is now doing some internal sanity checking on POP3 mailbox path fields. If the definition has inherited an invalid path (one that no longer exists) it will automatically reset it to the default new mail folder. This should fix most of the POP problems people have reported in v4.11.
  • Copyself messages *should* now correctly reflect the sender information appropriate to the identity that was used to generate them.

03-May-2003:   The following items are changed/fixed for version 4.12, beta 2:

  • You should no longer get crashes when dragging and dropping messages out of a grouped view in preview mode.
  • Caption fields are now properly-removed when you delete all the messages in a group while a grouped view is active.
  • Preview mode now remembers grouped view status as part of the folder settings if you have told the program to apply each folder's sort settings separately in preferences.
  • Ctrl+[+] now properly fits columns in both preview and classic modes.
  • Ctrl+[-] now properly resets columns in both preview and classic modes.
  • The program now installs the default content control definition files into existing users. The pre-condition for this is that the user must have no existing .PNC files: if he/she does not, the basic set of files will be copied from the defaults directory if they exist.
  • Users with a -ID commandline switch should now have their POP/SMTP definitions properly-upgraded when they run the program for the first time.

05-May-2003:   The following items are changed/fixed for version 4.12, beta 3:

  • There was a situational memory leak in the new mail folder scan process. This has now been fixed.
  • Preview mode focus issues should now be resolved, and may even be rather improved over previous versions.
  • Crashes when dragging and dropping messages onto message editors should be resolved.
  • The classic mode toolbar now resizes correctly when you switch its modes.
  • The "Enlarge" (Shift+F4) option now works in preview mode
  • Several changes have been made to the way RFC1522-encoded headers are handled which should allow attachments that could not previously be saved to be handled normally.
  • You can now associate the identity with a folder without causing a crash.
  • "Delete expired messages" option should work again

12-May-2003:   The following items are changed/fixed for version 4.12, beta 4:

  • A relatively obscure crash in v4.x (and probably earlier versions) has been resolved. In essence, if you attempt to turn on reformatted wordwrapping when viewing any message that contains a line consisting of 74 or more '+', '>', '!', '#', ']' or '}' characters, Pegasus Mail will wander away into never- never land. The problem only occurs with the reformatting option, not with the simpler truncated wrapping model.
  • The problem where replying to an "orphaned" message reader window (one where the folder has been subsequently closed) would result in a crash has now been resolved
  • The problem where adding any formatting to a reply subsequently sent with no signature added will cause an immediate crash, has been fixed.
  • Fixes the problem with the "Count only, don't download" POP3 option not working.
  • Should now correctly use one set of column widths in preview mode without impacting on the classic mode widths stored in STATE.PMJ.
  • Has a heavily-reworked version of SPAMBUST.DAT, the default content control rule set. This version will catch around 70% of the spam that the previous definition has missed here in the last three months, yet it should still have a low false-positive rate.

14-May-2003:   The following items are changed/fixed for version 4.12, release candidate 1:

  • Has sanity checking for values in STATE.PMJ that should hopefully deal with some odd reported problems
  • Includes an amended version of WPM-LMTT.R containing additions suggested by users - most notably an ISO-8859-15 character table, an amended KOI-8R table, and transparency tables for various Windows character sets. Assuming that practical experience encounters no difficulty with these character sets, they will be a standard part of v4.2.
  • Will no longer duplicate POP and SMTP definitions when upgrading
  • Installs SPAMBUST.DAT into the RESOURCE subdirectory and includes new help information on upgrading the DEFAULTS and user mailbox copies as required.
